Commercial vehicle:

A power unit having 2 axles and a gross vehicle weight or registered gross weight exceeding 26,000 pounds; a power unit having 3 or more axles regardless of weight or when the weight of such combination exceeds 26,000 of gross vehicle weight.

House Trailers:

Designed as a dwelling place or sleeping place equipped for use on streets and highways and are 8 ½ feet or less in width.

Light Weight Trailers:

Trailers having an empty weight of 1000 pounds or less.

Motorcycle:

Having a seat or saddle for the use of the rider and designed to travel on not more than 3 wheels in contact with the ground but which may have attached a sidecar for the purpose of transporting a single person.

Passenger:

Designed to carry 10 persons or less and primarily used to transport persons, including ambulances and hearses but excluding motorcycles, motor homes and school buses.

Trailers:

Without propelling power designed to be drawn by a motor vehicle.

Truck:

Designed, used or maintained for the transportation of property, including pickup trucks.

Multipurpose Vehicle:

Designed to travel on at least four (4) wheels in contact with the ground, has an unladen weight of at least three hundred (300) pounds but less than three thousand (3,000) pounds, has a permanent upright seat or saddle for the driver which is mounted at least twenty-four (24) inches from the ground and has an identifying number. Special Plates:

The following plates are available to qualified applicants:

  • Prisoner of War
  • Army National Guard
  • Air National Guard
  • Pearl Harbor Survivor
  • Disabled Veteran
  • Purple Heart Recipient
  • Firefighters
  • EMTs
  • University of Wyoming


Applications for special plates must be submitted to the County Treasurer's Office where eligibility will be determined. Approved applications will be forwarded to the Department of Transportation who assigns plate numbers and then sends the plates to the County Treasurer's Office. Please allow six weeks for processing.

Handicapped Plate:

Applications for handicapped plates are available at the County Treasurer's Office (click here to download the form). The application must be completed and signed by the applicant's physician and submitted to:

The Department will determine the eligibility for a license plate or placard. The County Treasurer's Office will issue registration and plates upon approval from the Department of Transportation.

Personalized Prestige:
