Washington Square Bus Stop Closes

The Washington Square bus stop on Gem City Grand will close permanently on Monday, May 7th. The reason for the bus stop closure is very low ridership. Closest bus stop to the Washington Square location will be the Civic Center/Albany County Library stop, 1 block to the east.

New stop added at Workforce Services & Department of Family Services

The new Workforce Services and Department of Family Services building has been added to the Gem City Grand bus route by ACTA as of Monday, 4/3/12. The new bus stop is located at 3817 Beech St and will be between the LCCC and Wal-Mart stops. The current bus schedule will not be affected by this change. Gem City Grand Closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

The Gem City Grand will be closed Monday 1/16 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. We will resume normal service on Tuesday 1/17. Thanks for riding ACTA!

New Schedule Finalized - Begins 1/3/12

The new ACTA Gem City Grand bus schedule has been finalized and is now posted on this website. Our drivers also have the new schedules and will be distributing them on the buses. The new schedule will begin on 1/3/12, and will maintain a 30 minute schedule 7 days/week. We believe passengers will find the schedule simplified and much easier to follow. The new schedule eliminates "peak times" so that drivers and buses should now be able to stay on schedule with no issues throughout the week. The new schedule also allows recovery times for buses so that when harsh weather hits and roads get bad, the drivers have more time to catch up at the Wal-Mart and Downtown location stops. We truly hope that the new schedule will serve our passengers needs and ensure that you are able to get where you need to go, on schedule! Thank you for your patience as we are still working out "kinks" over the past Fall.

Just a reminder that the Gem City Grand will not be in service over the holidays. The last day the Gem City Grand will operate in 2011 is Thursday 12/22/11. Service will resume on 1/3/12, with our new schedule! See you then, and Happy Holidays!

New and Improved Schedule Coming Soon!

We have received a lot of valuable feedback from passengers over the past few months, thank you! One of the most frequent concerns we receive is that our buses have been not been able to stick to the schedule we have posted online, in brochures, and at bus stops. This is caused by a variety of reasons, but part of the reason is when buses are running every 20 minutes during peak times, the buses can come off schedule very easily.

We have evaluated ridership data and have decided that these peak times are not necessary. Starting 1/3/12, the Gem City Grand will be running every 30 minutes throughout the day, on a very consistant schedule. We will also be adding another driver on weekends to help the buses stay on a more consistant 30 minute schedule. We feel that the new and improved schedule will better serve our customers and enhance the reliability of the Gem City Grand. We appreciate all of the input we have recieved so far, keep it coming!

Thanksgiving Closure

The Gem City Bus route will not be running Thursday, 11/24 and Friday, 11/25 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Gem City Grand service will resume at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday 11/26. Happy Thanksgiving from the Albany County Transportation Authority!
