Albany County MapThe Albany County Planning Department is responsible for land use planning and land use permit application reviews in the unincorporated areas of Albany County. Land use permit applications we review include zoning certificates (required for most structures), small wastewater system permits, conditional use permits, small wind energy system permits, subdivision permits, and a variety of other land use permits. We are also responsible for rural addressing, enforcement of land use regulations, drafting and amending long-range land use plans, and keeping County regulations consistent with the goals of our land use plans. We look forward to working with you on land use planning projects and assisting you with your land use permit applications.

Life in the country is different from life in the city.  County governments are unable to provide the same level of service that city governments provide.  We welcome you to Albany County and hope that you will enjoy living here.  The following Code of the West is meant to educate you on the ins and outs of rural living.
